Remembering from playing video games my self. I thought this was a catchy ad that was pretty creative. The Marketing crew again really did a great job in influencing people to promote products, World of Warcraft as well as Mt.Dew the fuel for gaming.
As well as this ad, for xbox 360's game Halo 3. It shows that you can only win if you drink Mt. Dew game fuel and beat out all of your compeition.
John, enjoyed the advertising. Very creative. Kudos to Mountain Dew for connecting the drink to the online gaming world. Based on these ads, I'm not sure it's an obesity issue as much as it is creative. I wonder how much MD paid these gaming companies to have this kind of access?
ReplyDeleteAlso, notice that the people playing the games are young and thin (even athletic).
Are there other products that advertise like this?
My thought for this was, it is promoting people who play games to drink the Mountain Dew, to become better at play. The hidden detail is each bottle of the Mountain Dew has 290 calories http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/nutrition-calories/food/pepsi-mountain-dew/mountain-dew-game-fuel-20oz.-bottle/.
ReplyDeleteA gamer will easily drink 2-3 of them a day, because they think they play better. That is already 870 Calories of a 2000 calorie daily diet, not including snacking, or main meals. Where do those accumulated calories go if they are not exercising?
